Background

Mark Warner has represented Virginia in the Senate since 2009 and is vice chairman of the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence in the 119th Congress. He led the committee as chairman from 2021 to 2025 and served as vice chairman from 2017 to 2021, including during the committee's bipartisan investigation into Russian interference in the 2016 election. He is the longest-serving continuous member of the current Gang of Eight.

Role in intelligence oversight

Leads minority oversight on the Senate Intelligence Committee and co-leads its annual Intelligence Authorization Act with the chairman.
