About

Editorial standard, ownership, and corrections

A reference site is only worth as much as its willingness to say where its information came from and what it will do when it gets something wrong.

What this site is

GangOf8.com is an independent public-information reference on the eight congressional offices that may receive restricted covert action notifications under 50 U.S.C. § 3093(c)(2). It exists because the phrase "Gang of Eight" enters public argument regularly and is widely misunderstood — including the frequent confusion with the unrelated 2013 immigration working group of the same nickname.

What this site is not

This site is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or connected to the United States Government, the United States Congress, any congressional committee, any federal agency, any officeholder, or any political party or campaign.

It contains no classified information, and it makes no claim about the contents of any classified briefing. Where the public record shows only that a notification was reported, this site says reported.

Editorial standard

  • Offices, not people. Every factual record attaches to a seat and a Congress. This is why a roster here is dated rather than described as current.
  • Date-locked, never quietly edited. When a Congress ends, its record is archived as it stands. A prior roster is not stale — it is an accurate record of a defined period.
  • No invented numbers. No count on this site is a placeholder. Where a module has not been built, the roadmap says so plainly rather than showing an empty section.
  • Primary sources. Statutory text is quoted from the United States Code. Legislative history relies on Congressional Research Service reporting and the resolutions and public laws themselves.
  • Equal treatment. All eight seats receive identical presentation. Party is recorded as a fact and given no visual emphasis in either direction.
  • Arguments presented, not settled. Where the criticism of a mechanism is genuinely contested, both cases are stated and neither is declared the winner.

Ownership

GangOf8.com is independently owned and operated by Leroy Godfrey Jr. as part of a portfolio of reference and content properties published under DomainSearchUSA.com. The site is privately funded, carries no advertising, accepts no sponsorship, and receives no contribution from any party, campaign, committee, or advocacy organization.

The owner is a candidate for Berkeley County Council District 6 in South Carolina in the November 2026 general election. That candidacy is a local county office with no connection to federal intelligence policy, and it is disclosed here as a matter of course rather than because any conflict is implicated. This site takes no position on federal legislation, endorses no candidate for any office, and is not a campaign communication.

Corrections

Errors will be corrected promptly and visibly. This site does not silently edit a factual claim out of existence. When a correction is made to a factual record, the correction and its date remain attached to the record.

If you have found an error, or hold a primary source that contradicts something published here, send it. Please include a link or citation to the source.
